a. Palm Oil
Is an edible vegetable oil made from palm fruit widely used in the food manufacturing and cosmetic industry. Palm fruit is the source of palm oil (extracted from the fruit) and palm kernel oil (extracted from the seeds). Palm oil is naturally reddish because of its high beta-carotene content. Physical refining removes smells and colouration to produce “refined, bleached and deodorized palm oil” (RBDPO) and free fatty acids. These products are used to manufacture soaps, washing powders and other products.
b. Sunflower Oil
Sunflower Oil is an edible vegetable oil made by pressing and processing sunflower seeds. The refined sunflower oil is clear, light amber and liquid at room temperature. Refined sunflower oil is used for low to extremely high-temperature cooking. Unrefined sunflower oil is a traditional salad dressing and an ingredient in sunflower butter. Sunflower oil is commonly used in food as a frying oil and in cosmetic formulations as an emollient.
c. Soybean Oil (Soya Oil)
Soybean Oil is an edible vegetable oil made by crushing (mechanical extraction) and further processing (solvent extraction) of soya beans to extract the oil. After refinement, the oil is hydrogenated if necessary. Soybean oils, both liquid and partially hydrogenated, are supplied as "vegetable oil" or ingredients in various processed foods. Soybean oil is one of the most widely consumed cooking oils and the second most consumed vegetable oil. In addition to being used as a drying oil, it can also be used as a base for printing inks (soy ink) and oil paints if processed.
d. Corn Oil
Corn oil (maize oil) is an edible vegetable oil extracted from the centre germ of corn kernels. Refined corn oil is mainly used for cooking, where its high smoke point makes it a valuable frying oil and is often found as a critical ingredient in margarine. Corn oil is also used as a feedstock for biodiesel and the production of personal care products.
